About Me

I started hunting with scent hounds over 15 years ago and before that sight hounds. I hunt by myself most of the time. My wife always tried to get me to keep a diary of the hunts but I'm usually too tired and just too lazy to write when I get back to camp. I started carrying a small video camera and keeping track of my hunts that way. The more I used it the more comfortable I became. I use it in the same way you would keep track in a diary. Hunting the way I do on mule or horseback there is always plenty of time to pull out the camera and document what’s going on that day.. date, weather conditions, which dogs you have and any particulars about them, where you’re going and so on. During the day you can video anything interesting you come across or things that just happen. On the ride back to camp you can video a summary of the day. I have to admit I have missed some of the best stuff by getting excited and helping the dogs or just forgetting to use the camera. Since I’ve started editing I have become more aware of that and hopefully will get better video in the future. Also the cameras I use have been upgraded considerably so the quality should also get better.
