Gila Trip 2013

Me and a buddy of mine went on a 75 mile 5 day pack trip through part of the Gila Wilderness and the Aldo Leopold Wilderness. Here is a slide show with a little video at the end. Music by Dave Stamey "McGee Creek the packers song

I have lots of new video but I'm having some computer issues and will be waiting to get the new computer before uploading some video. I haven't had that much time to hunt but will be starting to get after it in the next few months. We have an Oryx hunt coming up for the month of January hopefully everyone will fill there tag soon and I can get back to running the hounds. I have been having a new kennel built on some property that I have down lower in the desert. I'm still going to hunt out of my mountain property but will be able to get out and hunt some other areas easier.

I use to run sight hounds for coyotes .. I would use an electronic call and call them in. Most of the time I did it on horse back. The hounds learned when that call started playing to start looking. Here is video of a hunt late in the year with a surprise ending. The video was taken quite a few years ago.

Here is a video I put together from some old clips I had. Again the quality of the video isn't very good but it shows some of the frustrations of putting together a pack of dry ground lion hounds. Learning on your own at the same time can make matters worse. But if you enjoy the journey in can be very rewarding.

 Some older footage of a bear we caught while we were lion hunting.. Bear treed in a small tree.. also shows calling the dogs off of the tree without leashes..

Here is a little video I put together of a hunt with a friend of mine. I used a go pro camera and thought I was videoing but just ended up taking a picture every couple of seconds.... so this is what I ended up with. This video is strike to tree of a hot track.
